Tips: Enable, Enter and Adjust in BEST POS

Summary

This article shows how to enable tips, enter a tip at the register (amount or %), edit/remove a tip before completion, and reconcile at end of day. Steps cover permissions, payment terminal entry, and tax behavior.

Step-by-step Instructions

1) Prerequisites

  • Role with register configuration and total adjustment permissions.
  • Compatible payment terminal (if collecting tips on the device).
  • Store policy: tip taxable or not, suggested % options.

2) Enable and configure tips

  1. Open BackOffice and go to Settings > Register > Tips.
  2. Turn on Allow tips at the register.
  3. Set suggested percentages (e.g., 10, 15, 18, 20) and allow custom amount.
  4. Choose tax behavior: non-taxable (recommended) or taxable per local rules.
  5. If entering tips on the terminal, enable terminal tip mode and sync the options.
  6. Save and test at a register.

3) Enter a tip at the register (before payment)

  1. In the sale, click Subtotal to lock the basket.
  2. Click Tip:
    • Suggested %: choose 10/15/18/20.
    • Amount: type a value (e.g., 5.00).
  3. Confirm the Tip line is added under items.
  4. Proceed to tender and choose the payment method (card or cash).

4) Enter a tip on the card terminal (if enabled)

  1. Select Card as the payment method.
  2. The terminal displays tip options (% and Other amount).
  3. The customer selects a tip; when authorized, the amount returns and posts to the sale.
  4. Verify the final total and complete the transaction.

5) Adjust or remove a tip (before completion)

  • Edit the Tip line to change % or amount, then save.
  • To remove, delete the Tip line and rerun Subtotal.
  • If the tip came from the terminal, perform a terminal cancel/reverse first, then update the sale.

6) End-of-day checks and reports

  • Print Z/X reports and review the Tips totals (per register, per cashier).
  • If distributing tips, export the tips detail for payroll/accounting.
  • Reconcile card tips with the terminal’s batch.

Fixes and FAQs

  • Tips not showing: verify Allow tips is on and rerun Subtotal.
  • Duplicate tip: remove the Tip line on POS or void the tip on the terminal, then recalc.
  • Wrong amount: edit the Tip line with the correct %/amount before tender.
  • Unexpected tax on tip: change tax behavior to non-taxable or per policy, then rerun Subtotal.
  • Terminal shows no options: enable tip mode on the device and sync settings.
